That gravitational pull to adventures in Nature! Some of us, with passionate intention, work to capture these moments out there on our devices. Why is it so important to seek out and seize these moments? Is it obvious? Hmmm... Let us explore this interesting topic from different angles for a bit.
As I was blissfully hiking up a trail the other day listening to the snow crunch under my boots and a bird sweetly chirping in the distance, this thought ran across my mind.
We do it as often as we can! We are always on a high when it's time to put on our hiking gear and eagerly get out there to see what fresh new adventures await us! For some of us who are Nature and Landscape photographers like me, taking our cameras with us is a must! For others, just a satisfying hike outdoors with the many breaths of fresh air and mentally capturing the serenity of the breathtaking beauty of nature is quite sufficient. To each his own!
Some very ambitious adventurers hike to very high elevations and trek for many hours, or days to the tops of mountainous regions and challenge themselves on how far they can go, and furthering that distance/elevation a little longer and higher each time, while recording these wild adventures and exquisite scenery on their cameras! Amazing and Inspiring! But why the attraction or connection to this landscape or scene? Why travel so many miles on a steep uphill climb to capture a sunset?
No matter what scale we do it on, the question in part is "Why?" Personal goals? Professional goals? Both? Maybe using this as a way of dealing with pending issues (personal or business that we would rather not?) To temporarily find solace from a turbulent life?
What truly drives us to Nature, and the reasons we are drawn to that particular nature category? Why are we attracted to particular types of landscapes? Mountains or Rivers? Are we Sunsets or Sunrise people? Why do we capture these moments?
My reasons were always clear in my mind. A constant longing to be among the trees, hiking up mountains, down valleys, seeking incredible landscapes that blew my mind! Rambling towards thunderous waterfalls, capturing the most impressive sunsets and trekking through serene trails leading to the most spectacular lakes. I wanted to become one with nature! I always felt a sense of belonging, and later on in life it became obvious to me that I needed to share these experiences and intense feelings with the world! It was a realization that I could not ignore, hence the reason for this website. I was able to transfer my deep love and respect for Nature through my photos to people who share mutual feelings, with the intention that they can experience at least a little of my passion for Nature. They say "a picture is worth a thousand words." I sincerely believe that.
Sometimes we do things out of habit and because it makes us feel good, or give us a sense of relief or reprieve. We sometimes never really understand why we are doing them unless we dig further. It may seem obvious to some, and maybe require some deeper soul searching for others.
Thank you for taking the time to read my post today. I am delighted! Hope you enjoyed my humble first entry targeted to simply share my intimate nature experiences and thoughts, and to bring awareness with a few 'whys?". Looking forward to hearing of your nature adventures too! Each experience shared will be a wonderful insight and great knowledge for all. If you do take photos, what kind of nature images are you drawn to and why? No matter how big or small you think they are, they are important and significant to you, and that is all that matters. Thank you for sharing.
Next post will be on a hiking trail adventure, with my camera of course! Can't wait to share them all with you!
Warmest Wishes
